“The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.” Mahatma Gandhi

Indian political and spiritual leader (1869 – 1948)

What does it mean to forgive? Is it words, thoughts, emotions, or actions? Is it all of the above or none of the above? When you think of forgiving someone how do you view it? How willing are you to change your beliefs? What does forgiving yourself or others have to do with healing yourself? How open are you to think and act differently; creating a new spiritual awareness or consciousness awareness?
Mahatma Gandhi gives us much to reflect upon. It takes strength and courage to forgive someone who has harmed or hurt you or someone you love. When you have harmed or hurt someone else it also takes strength and courage to forgive YOU. Oftentimes this is more difficult. When you remember the experience or situation what do you feel in your mind, body and soul? How does your heart feel right now? Some of you may have experienced health issues as a direct or indirect result of holding onto strong emotions or energies of anger, betrayal, disappointment, hurt, resentment, hate, guilt, unforgiveness, unworthiness, self- punishment or fear. Many believe that all aspects of our minds, bodies, souls/spirits have consciousness in every cell and fiber of our beings. These energies or emotions can be stored for lifetimes.
Now, once you accept this belief what if you connected with the inner child within you who is suffering and wounded and what if you began to heal it through forgiveness? First, begin with self-forgiveness and then forgive others. What does it take to forgive and shift the negative energies? It takes a desire and willingness to change. Help is available; you do not have to do this alone. For example, if you believe in God, a higher power or higher consciousness, then you have prayer or meditation. Seek a spiritual coach or counselor to walk this journey with you. You are not alone.
Imagine what it can feel like within your mind, body, soul/spirit as the energies within every cell and fiber of your being begin to shift consciousness. If you are experiencing physical challenges or illnesses, then imagine your body, mind, soul/spirit being more open and receptive to healing when you feel you are worthy of love and good health and be sure you no longer hold the negative beliefs or energies. This is something that you can do for yourself. It takes courage and strength to say, “I choose to change what I believe and I am ready to forgive myself and others so that my life is more positive and balanced. These negative energies no longer serve my greatest good.”
Forgiving oneself and others truly takes great strength. The status quo remains the easier route. Remember, that with God all things are possible.
