Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning.

~ Albert Einstein, Theoretical physicist

I find it hard to believe that January is already ending! We’ve even experienced a Full Moon also known as a Wolf Moon. There’s been so much energy, including this lunar energy, to support and encourage us to ‘let go’ of our baggage – the things that no longer serve us. Albert Einstein’s quote really resonated with me as I thought of my old baggage as the stuff I’m learning from the past. In fact, many yesterdays! It’s a beautiful reminder that today is what’s real although having hope plays an important part for the future. We’re invited to continually question what’s working and not working for us in every moment. Then, consciously choose to let go of the old stuff or not! Some things are easier than others.

What about the fear of letting go of what’s known and comfortable? Are you ready? Do you think about being different if you clean your closet so to speak? Maybe create a new wardrobe! How fun! Do you wonder how your friends and family will respond to the change in you? Keep going. It’s ok to become more of who you are! Imagine how much lighter you will feel when you do this! Whew!

Being awake, aware, and accountable for you and your life with intention is a beautiful way to be and live. Why let someone else choose for you? Once you realize your own power and the gift of free will – the power to choose with intention – imagine the difference you can make in your’s and someone else’s life. Enjoy your new wardrobe without apology! Thich Nhat Hanh, Vietnamese Buddhist monk, reminds us that, “The source of love is deep in us and can help others realize a lot of happiness. One word, one action, one thought can reduce another person’s suffering and bring that person joy.” His reminder also applies to ourselves. Why not receive the source of love deep within you? Love yourself more, be kind, forgiving, and compassionate with yourself as well! Be happy and be a source of happiness for others through your ability to listen; your words and actions.

Through my own journey of awakening I’ve learned that if I look to what’s going on in the chaotic world to find happiness then I would still be searching. Finding inner peace; feeling unconditional love through my quiet times and being in my inner monastery has helped me discover more of me! Love, gratitude, and service keep me going. As I keep going I recognize that the present moment is what’s real and all there is and yet, Thich Nhat Hanh reminds us that, “The present moment is the only moment available to us, and it is the door of all moments.” The present moment does open doors to new possibilities if we have the courage and curiosity to explore them! Even though life presents each one of us opportunities and challenges it’s how we respond to them that creates our experiences! Remember, there is more that’s real than the chaos going on in the world. Choose to keep going please! I am.
