Hope is the only thing that will keep you from despair.

~ C.S. Lewis, British writer and theologian.

There’s a lot going on, isn’t there? So many distractions in our external world make it more and more challenging to spend time in our inner world, yes? I’ve heard several people talk about how emotional they’ve been this week. One person described it as a change in barometric pressure that’s bringing up so much emotion. Another person said, “It feels like I’m cleaning out all of my old stuff including suppressed emotions.” And still others have described an emotional roller coaster experiencing highs and lows. How have you been feeling?

I’ve found moments where I’ve asked, “What’s next? What else can happen now?” I’ve found myself feeling the collective pain and I’ve felt helpless at times. For those of you who are sensitive and feel energies of others this time presents great challenges. It’s important to know when the energies are yours or others. Now is a good time to practice, especially when you feel off, asking, “Is what I’m feeling mine or others?” If it’s not yours then ask for help from God, High Self or your guides to release them.

Currently there’s a wide range of emotion swirling around in the collective consciousness. The denser emotions can range from despair, hopelessness, rejection, sorrow, anxiety, anger, hate, and fear. Feelings of hope, love, understanding, acceptance, inner peace, kindness, compassion, and joy are also being felt in spite of what’s happening in the world. I’m encouraged and hopeful as I see people of all ages immersing themselves in beauty, helping others, speaking truth peacefully, practicing random acts of kindness, and seeking to understand another’s point of view.

How we respond to what’s going on around us creates our experience and the next steps of our journey toward increased self awareness, inner peace, and love. These responses are what we can control! Finding our way through these chaotic times feels like navigating through thick mud. Yuck! It can feel like there’s no way out especially if you feel stuck in hopelessness or despair. Take a few deep breaths and find your center once again. Imagine the Light and Love that you are shining brightly as you are led out of the mud. These feelings are often temporary. If they linger, please ask for help.

Sir Elton John, English singer, songwriter, pianist, and composer has said, “It’s the circle of life, and it moves us all, through despair and hope, through faith and love, ‘til we find our place, on the path unwinding.” We are all finding our place on the unwinding path while we’re here on earth. The circle of life continues and our journey continues to evolve and transform. Life is dynamic and not static, isn’t it? It can also be full of surprises!

During these times of change please remember you’re not alone. Be the powerful being you are and respond to what’s going on around you consciously. Speak your truth. You are not a victim! How will your life experience change if you move from despair to hope? Will you have found your place on the unwinding path?

Jack Layton, Canadian politician, said, “My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful, and optimistic, and we’ll change the world.” How? It’s up to each one of us, isn’t it? What if we choose to become more loving, understanding, hopeful, kind, compassionate, accepting, and grateful in our daily life? How will our lives and world change?
